Sketch BlurbThis sketch was inspired by your typical game show setup. Colorful backgrounds, different segments, and a host in suit with a sarcastic voice. The premise is revolved around a game show called Who's the Coolest Mom? A show where a set of three different moms prove that they are the coolest. They go through different segments and whoever wins the most is the coolest mom. The crazy characters throughout, showcases that this a character based sketch. Our sketch implements the power of three by the build up of the different segments. The first one requires the moms to use slang terms in a sentence, the second segment forces them to say what they would do in a sticky scenario, and the final one makes them spill gossip about their children. Their responses and actions to each segment is worth watching. I found it important to expand my understanding of not just U.S history, but understand how history presents a relevance in today's society, culture, and ability to make discussions for the future. Below was one of my last reflections based off two exerts we were assigned to read. We read from a book called " A Peoples History", and are classes were structured through group discussions. This enabled use to cultivate our own interpretations through what others presented as well as dive into some of the more difficult time periods of history to fully understand without being one sided.

In the course of a semester our humanities class will be focusing on how to become a media outlet. We have learned about persuasive Technics and analyzing rhetoric in news stories, political speeches, debates and interviews. Every two weeks we research, edit and record a new podcast relevant to our upcoming 2016 election.
First Presidential Podcast AssessmentWhat was a earning moment you can identify during this first podcast?
Through the course of this project we have learned a lot about the presidential system and our presidential candidates. As we moved forward in our research and started making our first podcast, that's when many of the concepts we learned started to all relate to me. Our first podcast was about if our votes really matter. At first I was a bit closed minded. I thought that the U.S in a way was corrupt and we as citizens were not taken into account when it came to voting. I've come to learn that our votes are taken into account when it comes to voting for political heads that essentially to make our vote for us. I was able to learn that there are so many hoops to jump through when voting. For example three years ago a law was passed that you could not vote unless you had an ID. This changes the stance of States. For example Texas is stated to be Republican, but if all citizens were able to vote then it would be a Democratic State. Our government has a lot of restrictions and regulations, but the idea of voting still determines the contribution of our Country. These passed couple of weeks I have grown in my understanding of polices and now when I go to voices of politics class I feel like I can actually contribute and it's a good feeling to know what you have to say is a contribution to the conversation and that it is thoughtful, insightful and educated. What was a growth moment or struggle for you? Going into this project although my podcast group has strong individuals, none of us know how to edit. I have done a little editing before, but I wasn't confident, nor was I familiar with the program I was using. We all agreed to learn together, but I took on the task. I worked during lunch with Allie and that's when we first started to tamper with editing. Allie would be the one to try new things and this would lead us to figuring more things out. One thing that I need to work on is trusting others. I knew that all three of us were not confident in editing, so instead of allowing them to learn I decided to trust myself when it came to learning the software. As the podcast went along I continued to learn more and this excited me, because the more I learned the more confident I was in editing which would mean our next podcast can become even better. What was the communication among your team throughout the project? If I am completely honest, I love my group. We are such hard workers and we know how to produce quality work. Our communication was well. We knew Allie was working on the script to start, Lily was doing a lot of research for the script and I was in charge of editing. When we needed to change or add something to the podcast, right away, Allie would organize the script and show us what would change, lily wold research for the section that needed to be revised and I would adjust the podcast with edits. We would all stay in communication with each other, so that we stayed on the same page. What roles did you have during the creation of this podcast? You may have figured this out already based off what I previously have been writing about. Since there were no assigned roles in this project we all kind of gravitated towards what we were most comfortable doing, besides me. I was originality doing miscellaneous things until the spot for the editor had to be filled. This was my main role. I helped with writing the script, but after that we recorded and I was taught how to edit. Our entire group was in charge of recording. I tend to take more of a leadership position when it comes to projects and I never really understood why. I’m the type of person that likes to stay informed, when I am the project manager I know all the details of what needs to get completed. I have understanding of all the roles and everything in my head starts to become organized. I also just love taking charge and feeling as if people can rely and look up to me. What grade would you give yourself for this project? Do you believe everybody deserves the same grade? For this particular project I would give myself an “A”, because I would say that I worked hard and pushed myself to put forth my best. I can say that initially my time was split between the podcast and math honors. As the math test passed we buckled down and made sure that our work was completed. As far as my group members, they deserve an “A” as well. They are really hard workers and truly care about the product they are producing. It's such a joy to work with these two individuals, Allie, and Lilly. Moving forward, what changes would you make to this project to be successful for your second podcast? Now that I am more familiar with editing, I hope to bring forth cooler more evolved podcasts. I was happy with the script that was made, but I hope that when we record our next podcast we add a bit more enthusiasm just to engage the audience more. I also, moving forward hope to teach my group members more about editing, so that we can all contribute equally on the tasks that are given. Overall I was super happy with our first podcast and look forward for what's to come. |
