ECO Division was a project created by our class , in Biology, we partnered with SeaWorld and Rising Tide Conservation to learn and conduct Elementary and Middle school workshops in our classroom to teach the younger generations about animal conservation. We currently have 25 fish tanks in their classroom including a larger tank created by the TV show “Tanked” donated by Petco.

In our high school Junior classroom at High Tech High Chula Vista, we have had many conversations on what conservation means to us. This school year we are working towards culturing marine life in our classroom, with the partnership of Seaworld, Rising Tide Conservation and multiple experts. The reason we had this idea for a project is because ornamental fish are being over fished from coral reef systems and are illegally sold. If we can breed these ornamental fish in captivity then we can keep the native fish in their local ecosystems and use captive bred ornamental to supplement the pet trade economy. One fish that is very challenging to breed is the Blue Tang. The goal for this project is to determine what it takes to breed ornamental fish in a captive setting. We as students will build salt water tanks and conduct research on fish species as well as conduct studies regarding the changes in the nitrogen cycle.
Human Body System Mini ProjectOur classroom wanted to learn more about human anatomy, so as a way to get us more familiar with the anatomy system we were able to choose one of the body systems and create an illustration of it using any medium. Along with this we did a lot of research on all the body systems for further educational purposes.
